ME

Axel is a 13 month old boy who is quite stunning drawing wows from everyone who sees him.

We don’t know a great deal about his past, however, he was poorly socialized and this has translated into slight caution when he meets strangers and over excitement when he sees dogs.

He is very nice with his people and will tend to be a little reserved when he meets strangers.  However, he soon warms up and loves being petted.  His foster parents are taking him to stores where they sit outside and just watch. He’s doing well.  It’s a great way to improve the socialization of a dog.

We have not yet tested him with a cat, however, his prey drive suggests he will be better off in a cat free home.

Axel has clearly had training as he walks nicely on leash and has sit and basic obedience well worked out.

He is not interested in tennis balls.

If you are interested in adopting Axel you’ll need to have experience with large working breed dogs that including training that addressed behavior modification.

Axel has minor leash reactivity which his foster parents are working on.  It is not aggression, but frustration driven by his lack of socialization, it is highest with other males. Off leash he is good with other dogs.   We are going to be working with him and further testing him over the next few days.

Axel is being fostered in Novato and should be available in a couple of weeks.
