ME
Hi! I’m Derek. I’m a one year old Shepsky looking for a new home. I’m a healthy boy and weigh a fit 65 pounds. I have the characteristics and good looks of both a GSD and a husky…including one bright blue eye. My pretty coat is long and thick.

I was very scared at the shelter and am so grateful that my new friends at BAGSR got me out of there.

I know several commands including sit, stay, down, come, wait, shake and roll over. I also walk nicely on leash.

I am friendly and enjoy meeting new people and will approach new friends for a chin scratch. Like other GSDs, I like to lean on my person and stay close. I have a sweet demeanor and enjoy attention and affection. I will sit quietly and allow brushing. I adore that!

I do great with all dogs but do show some interest in cats so I would do best in a home without cats.

I will do best with a family who has experience and will take things slowly with me since I still need someone to help build up my confidence. An adopter who will expose me to new adventures and help me make new friends will be great as long as my new family is patient and works with me at my pace.

I’m not a fence jumper but am kind of a Houdini. I got out of my kennel once by squeezing under the lower bar and I have gotten out of a crate.

I’ll do fine with respectful children but a calmer household would be best for me. I also would thrive with a dog sibling who can help with my self-assurance; being an only dog would be ok too.  My new friends think that at one time I was someone’s beloved pet. I can’t wait to reconnect with a new family who will love me.

I’ll be waiting with my foster family in Morgan Hill.
