Pearl is a very affectionate, medium-sized female German Shepherd who was found wandering in a rural part of the Central Valley. We estimate she is about 2.5 years old. She arrived at her foster home on May 22nd where she is living with a male GSD. The dog introductions were very easy.

When Pearl arrived at her foster home she seemed to be unfamiliar with living inside a house, she was slow in walking through doors and slightly unsteady walking on bare floors. That behavior is rapidly changing. She now knows how to use a dog door and enjoys sleeping free on a dog bed during the night.

Pearl eats her meals in a crate and stays quietly until she is released. Her indoor manners are good, she is house trained and has not attempted to get on furniture. She rides well (crated) in a vehicle. Pearl meets other dogs easily, with a wagging tail, play bows and a slightly submissive demeanor.

We are working on basic obedience. She is excited about food but has a soft mouth and will readily sit for treats. At this point, she is unfamiliar with walking on leash and will pull. Pearl needs to be monitored for chewing or stealing clothes and shoes

When her foster mom is at work she is left alone with her foster brother. She has access to part of the house and the yard and seems fine with that. Her foster brother is teaching her to share toys and she is coming around quickly to that idea.

Pearl is scheduled to be spayed on May 27th and once she has recovered from that surgery will be available for adoption. She is living at a foster home in La Honda.
