Happy Monday to you all! We are giddy to share that RAINER got adopted in October 2013! Rainer’s new dad is retired, and Rainer will be a constant companion on roadtrips, hikes, outings and watching TV. Rainer also had to meet his two new besties, another male gsd and a darling female cattle dog mix, with whom he will share much of his time. We know Rainer and Mitch will have a great life together!Rainer is about 2.5 years old.  He came to us as an owner surrender from a family who really loved him.

Rainer is good with people; sometimes a bit aloof, but this happy guy likes his large blocky head rubbed.  He can be a bit dominant when initially meeting some males, but can also co-exist nicely with them.  He has good energy – a dog that loves long, energetic walks.  His body is strong and would likely be a good jogging partner and/or hiking buddy.  Rainer will chase critters, and he is not an off-leash kind of dog.

Rainer is house trained and crate trained.  He has nice manners and does not jump on people.

Because Rainer is intelligent and did not have a strong leader in his life until recently, we will not allow him to go to a family with children.  His owner will need to be a strong leader, who can demonstrate the ability to keep him engaged to do what is asked of him.  Like many german shepherds, he will rule the roost if allowed to do so.

Rainer is in the east bay in a foster home with several other german shepherds.  He is a level 3 dog.
