On October 27th Raja went to his furever home.

Raja is a stunning 4 year old male long haired German Shepherd.  He weights 86 pounds and draws gasps of admiration from everyone who met him on his first day here.

He was surrendered by his owner on October 8th and is living with his foster Dad in Novato

Raja loves his humans and is very friendly to everyone we have met.  He’s like a big happy bear.

He is on an intense course of socialization meeting as many humans, new situations and dogs as is possible each day.  During recent years he has been a little starved of new people and dog interactions.  We are also learning what motivates Raja, food, balls, tugs,……  He is also being groomed ALOT as he’s a long haired German Shepherd who has missed that over recent years.  He seems to really enjoy the hands on attention.

Raja is a large powerful male German Shepherd who has not been trained and not yet learned how to interact with other dogs.  He is easily over stimulated and this leads to him becoming excited, jumping around and barking.  We have seen zero signs of aggression.  Just frustration and silliness.

Raja is NOT for an inexperienced owner.  You’ll need to have owned a large working breed dog and demonstrated an ability to problem solve, handle the unexpected and become a great partner with your dog.

One week on we have been focussing on socialization and basic obedience. Raja is now much more restrained in new situations, meeting people and dogs. In addition we have down and sit well organized – see here and here

Raja is a strong level 3 dog.
