“I am your Father”, said Vader.  We believe newly adopted Jelly is Vader’s daughter.  When they met at their foster home, it was like ol’ home week for both.

Vader is a quiet, sweet-natured boy.  He had a heavy hand in his previous home and it has taken a while for Vader to trust in foster care.  However, Vader has been nothing but gentle.  Vader is not a demonstrative dog with affection, but he will stand for an hour as his human pets his head; he melts from the attention and touch.  When he received his first brushing, he was very unsure.  An hour later, he understood nothing bad was going to happen.  All of this equates to realizing he is a special needs, soft dog.

Vader is great with other dogs; he is a hang-out kind of guy.  He:

~ is good in the house and is quiet outside.

~ immediately adjusted to his crate at night and is trustworthy out of it.  

~ has nice manners inside and out, although he has had no training.  

~ has not barked in his foster home.

~ likes his human but is not an outgoing, social guy.

His dry coat is in need of some good nutrition, which he’s getting, and the rewards will pay off in a few months.  

Vader has shown a real interest (prey drive) in the live-stock in a neighboring yard.  For this reason, we will say Vader should not share his home with critters.

At 5 years old, Vader has worn down teeth from having played with lots of toys.  He walks the yard with a toy in his mouth and brings them inside.  Initially he resource guarded his toys from other dogs, but with a strong verbal correction from his human, he will now even walk away from a toy.  If he is to live with another dog, this must be managed.  Vader does not need another dog in his life to be happy though; that’s good.

Vader’s ideal home would be a quieter home where he does not face a lot of pressure and expectations are not high.  Rather, he needs to learn his dog-life can be wonderful, and he can trust that his people will be very nice to him.  If you’re looking for a gentle, quiet, low-key guy, ask to meet him.  He’s a sweetie.
